Talking about hair

My hair is getting longer, not long enough to put in a heavy-metal/Thor ponytail, but long enough so that my bangs are being a pain in the ass. I'm thinking about dyeing it the reverse of what I dyed it last time; black, with subtle blue highlights. Hopefully that won't be too hard to do/take care of. (I dyed it blond last time)

So I'm going for a Loki look right now. Black hair, green/blue eyes, hair swept back and longish. I was getting kind of sick of the mohawk anyway, and it wasn't like I was really doing anything with it anyway, just letting it sit there.

It's funny, I've had long hair my entire life, I miss it sometimes, but I don't think I'll ever miss it being as long as it was. It was literally down to my butt and I had to sweep it up out of the way when putting on a coat/sweatshirt/backpack/getting out of/into the car because sometimes I would shut my hair in the door.

I'd like for it to grow out as long as Chris Hemsworth's hair is after Thor/The Avengers. Sadly, my hair isn't all that straight. It's either as long as Chris Hemsworth's hair, or shave it all to within an inch. That would be interesting, but I don't think I'm going to do that. I think I'm going to grow it out just enough to get a pony-tail, like my dad used to have, and dye it black with blue highlights. That'll be cool.

Black hair with blue highlights sounds awesome. I bet you'll look great! And I sympathize about your bangs -- I was tiny, the last time I had bangs that were at that (or any other) stage, but I still remember how incredibly annoying they were until they finally grew out.

Lately I've been thinking about cutting my hip-length hair -- either very short, or just short enough to put back in a short ponytail or braid, I haven't decided. I can barely even remember my last haircut, and it's weird to think about making such a major change, but it's been years since I did anything with my hair that wasn't purely about keeping it out of the way... and I'm kind of thinking I'm ready for some change. But I don't know. We'll see. :)

Yeah, last time I had 'traditional' bangs, I had cut my hair myself, and really screwed my hair up. I used my screwed up hair and embarrassment as an excuse to FINALLY cut my hair as short as I really wanted it. It was SOOOOOO amazing to step out of the hairdressers and feel the *gets melodramatic* wind caress my head/shortened hair. I was practically- no I was, giddy. It was amazing. And at the same time, I can understand it being really hard to do. Cutting my hair was basically cutting my ties with my abusive mother AND the normal side of me (as perceived by others because let's face it, I was never 'normal' (or as normal as any human can be)) so it was a little easier for me because I had reached the point in my life (again) where I wanted some change and this was the perfect 'harmless' way to go about doing it. (as opposed to starting to cut my flesh. :/)

Ahaha, you make it sound even more tempting than it already is! :D

(And yeah, points for looking for harmless alternatives to harmful things. :/ I take it that (at least thinking about) self-injury is another not-so-fun thing we have in common?)

Yup self-harm (or the temptation) is something we share. I can't even put away knives (really sharp knives, I'm fine with butter knives or some serrated knives) without getting these... fantasies... about cutting myself up. fabric scissors are also not-fun. I actually had an experience with one of those and it was enough to reassure myself that I really don't want to cut myself. But the temptation is still there... My darker side. :/
