It Sure Has Been A Week Hasn't It.
Nov. 12th, 2021 06:43 pmMy dad's first week of treatment is done. 5 out of 33 radiation appointment, and 1 out of 7 (I think) chemotherapy appointments. Then after those he has a year of immunotherapy even if the cancer is completely gone by that point. Doctor said that research supports an extra 15 months of life even if the cancer is completely gone at that point.
The Doctor also said that my dad has a 50% chance of dying of anything within the next 5 years.
I drove my dad to each of his appointments. I kind of like driving him because at least that way I'm spending time with him. I think it'll set in how I'm feeling on Sunday. Cuz that's the 1st full day to myself I'll have in the last 6 days. I have physical therapy on Saturday.
Dad is having chest pains cuz of the radiation and he's also starting to get pretty fatigued. He's also got some nausea but it doesn't seem to have gotten to throwing up or... other expressions. AndI've been telling him that we'll know a lot more about how he might feel for the rest of this this coming Thursday cuz that'll be a couple days after his 2nd dose of chemo (which he has every Monday). All of his symptoms so far seem to be pretty well contained by his medications and his doctor's are really good at letting him know that he can contact them any time and that they have multiple solutions for various symptoms and side-effects.
So I've been driving an hour every day pretty much. I also picked up two new games this week. The one I'll hopefully be playing soon is Shin Megami Tensei 5.
Yesterday when I was eating breakfast (a soft-ass muffin) the crown on my molar decided to pop off. So I spit it out with a clack onto the table and stared in panic for a while frantically trying to remember the name of the place I go for dentistry (Gentle Dental) and blanking on it. I finally got through and they scheduled me to get it placed back in today at 2pm which was two hours before my dad's radiation. The drive to radiation that day was a shaky and upset one because I was ultra conscious of my mouth and the potential for the crown to fall off again (I'd put it back on like the dentist's office told me to with a dab of tooth paste
ALSO our microwave broke. Thing lasted like a decade and a half so I'm not too mad, but how fucking inconvenient.
ALSO the shower curtain in the bathroom fell down, so now we all have to take baths which are both simultaneously easier on me and also harder in some ways.
We are somewhat frantically searching for a cheap-ish pickup truck for my sister so we don't have to trap someone at home when we go out. Or we can go to separate doctor's appointments.
When I get home i don't have much energy to do anything beyond read fanfic or watch twitch. I'm worried for Sunday and Monday morning haha. We have to get up at like 11am so we can get to my dad's chemo at 12:30pm which lasts for up to 3 hours and then go to radiation, and THEN go home. Eeek.

Date: 2021-11-21 03:50 am (UTC)But it makes complete sense that you're tired, especially given that you had dental trouble and multiple other mini-crises to deal with. I'm really glad you've had fanfic and streams to fall into, and that you're staying aware of the strain you're under too.
Thinking good thoughts for you and everyone. <3
