It’s been a while!

Reading the previous entry: we got his ashes about a month after he passed. We actually had our godparents bring them down and they passed them over and my sis had a breakdown in the parking garage because my godmother in her mothers nature is worried about us in our conservative town, but we don’t go out anyway so haha (oh that’s another thing, I’m going on a semi-regular basis to our library’s monthly book club).

When we came home I didn’t just want to set down his ashes and I didn’t want to put them in the urn (the ashes are in a nice cardboard box that has a print of the Columbia basin on it, which both me and my sis thing he would actually like better) so I set them down on a fancy little table, put some hawk and eagle figurines around it, a Buddha on top and to the side and a little picture of him with me and my sis as barely-toddlers in his arms tucked into the corner of a picture of a bald eagle he’d taken himself. He’s still there now.

Everything from August to around the end of December is really a bit of a blur. We didn’t celebrate Halloween, we didn’t celebrate Christmas, but! On the 29th of December I adopted a dog!!! She’s an adorable chihuahua and I’ve named her Poppy. She is barely 4 pounds and I feel like I’ve had her forever and far beyond the almost three months she’s actually been with me.

She looks like a chihuahua wearing the coat of a doberman. She’s super smart and apparently the rescue had found her as a stray somehow. Me and my sis speculate that she escaped a backyard breeding situation, the doc tells me that she’s anywhere between 3 and 5 years old (chihuahua teeth complicate the situation, she actually had nine removed just recently. She has her big canines, but none of the little front incisors lmao. I figure the next time I need to force feed her some meds I can stick the syringe right in that hole, the poor thing.) She has huge nipples, and a huge vagina, the damn thing wiggles hilariously when she plays and that has us speculating that she’s had puppies plus she wasn’t spayed when the rescue got her AND she looks pretty purebred otherwise. She knows sit, likes to play catch-the-toy and keeps eating something in the depths of our house that has her not eating for a day *huffs*

I also attempted to take a new psych med, and ended up crawling back to the tried and true ones… still have to inform my psych about that actually… *guilty* I’m trying to think about the times in which I’ve been the most successful in what I want to do and work on trying to replicate what I was doing then as best I can. I’m also being cliched and reading self-help books lmao

I’m having a little in-my-head mini feud with the neighbors to our back. They like having a recreational fire a bit too often in my mind, it doesn’t help that our house isn’t very well insulated and we get some smoke in the house, or at least the smell. Today they were burning something so fragrant it almost smelled like incense. I actually had to go inside it was so strong and I was a lil worried about Poppy’s tiny little lungs.

I’m almost tempted to purchase the largest super soaker I can find and during the summer at the height of no-burn YES YOU NO BURN I wanna soak their fucking fire and them. I’ll probably just have to end up being that neighbor and calling the fire department/cops. (I am just beyond terrified of fire and fire season these years have not been encouraging. I’ve also been noticing crews clearing the sides of roads of trees near electric wiring/phone lines and yay for preparedness, eek for governments realizing they need to be prepared.)

The neighbors’ s also apparently bought out the garages we have out there as well and installed this huge light that I think is at least motion sensitive? They only installed it since I got Poppy which is funny cuz I think it might be my fault because my backyard doesn’t have a light, so I wander out there stupid late at night with my high powered flashlight spotlighting Poppy as she takes her midnight poop probably looking like a burglar. I just keep the flashlight on Poppy mostly like “I’m just walking my teeny-ass dog at 3am nothing to see here”.

It’s actually kind of nice, at one point she and I were out there and I heard some crunching in the background and then some movement and I picked up Poppy and headed for the door then turned and flashed the light behind me and it caught off the tapidum lucidum of our little herd of deer that like to come to our yard. I just hope the neighbors light doesn’t scare them off.

My sister has actually bought some seeds so we can get our yard figured out. She’s actually really close to just throwing her hands up and paying someone to do it for us for the first time this spring and then we can upkeep from there.

Lots of things have been done and lots of things still left to do. We STILL gotta figure out the house. Our money situation is so far so good. *crosses fingers*

I’ve been reading a lot, supporting my local library by having at least one book checked out at a time… right now I have ten. Lol. The book I’m enjoying myself the most reading is Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I gotta buy it because it’s one of those books that gives me an almost spiritual feeling reading it. It’s so beautifully written that I’m almost mad about it XD OH! And Also Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 million Years of Human Evolution by Cat Bohannon that I learned so much from that I really probably should have learned sometime before now…

Anyway, busy busy busy. I’ve got a vet visit for Poppy tomorrow because she has a small sty. I also want to talk to the doc about her tummy troubles. I also need to pick up some meds, then Friday I go to the hospital with sis so she can get a heart monitor put in place to see what he dizzy/fainting spells are hopefully and then we got to GameStop to pick up the games that she’s looking forward to the new Princess Peach and Dragon’s Dogma 2. And then on Saturday we go drive for 40 mins for the second time this week (we went in on Monday to meet with our new tax ladies) to meet with our godparents for Dad’s birthday and to catch up.

Anyway, thanks for listening <3
